Multifunctional Battery Calorimeter

DAAL SYSTEM manufactures and supplies high-performance multifunctional battery calorimeters domestically, based on patented technology from Auburn University (USA).

This equipment precisely measures and analyzes the heat generated during the charge and discharge cycles of lithium-ion battery cells, providing essential instrumentation for battery safety evaluation, thermal management system (TMS) design, and high energy density cell development.

The isothermal control method using thermoelectric modules maintains the cell at a constant temperature while enabling real-time measurement of heat flux and entropy coefficient. With high-speed data acquisition capabilities of up to 100 kS/s, even subtle thermal characteristics can be accurately analyzed.
The calorimeter supports various battery cell formats including pouch, cylindrical, and prismatic types. It features a bidirectional power supply with ±20V / ±10A output, allowing precise control of temperature and energy flow during charge/discharge cycles. Its temperature control range of -30°C to +60°C, combined with a closed-loop control structure, ensures a highly accurate and stable measurement environment.

Support for Large Cells

The system is compatible with various types of large-format cells, including pouch-type, cylindrical (including 21700), and prismatic cells. Unlike conventional calorimeters that primarily focus on small cells, this setup can be effectively utilized for large battery research.

Measured lumped HGR

The lumped HGR can be measured at different C-rates during charging and discharging. The temperature is accurately maintained at setpoint (25℃) temperature, with ~0.1℃ variation.

Measured entropy coefficient (EC)

EC measured using the proposed Hybridized Time-Frequency Domain Analysis method that substantially reduces the testing time (~30 hrs) to estimate the reversible heat generation of the cell.
